WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT KOLKATA ??

Its crazy mostly.
If you hail from some other metro cities like Delhi or Bangalore, KOLKATA won’t make any sense to you. We still have the age-old tram in the city which is pretty much unchanged for more than 100 years (since 1902). And make no mistake, it is the root of all traffic jam in the city.

Our corporation buses are archaeological relics.

This city is home to 5 million people. On any average day the streets of Kolkata will be crowded as hell and chances are you will be left stranded in between traffic.

But what sets Kolkata apart from other cities are its ethnicity and cultural history. It was the frontier of the cultural revolution in the British rule and you can see its remnants all over the city.
Public transport is insanely cheap. Bus tickets cost little or more than 7 bucks, ferries cost 10 bucks and metro is about 5–10 bucks. You can get around the city without putting a dent in your pocket.
The North and the South Kolkata feel miles apart in their appearance and essence. While the south has its old houses from British period and a flair for football, the north has seen rapid development and high rises over the years and feels like any other metro cities of India.

Kolkata is not progressive or dynamic like Bangalore or Delhi and its growth has been gradual. We, Bengali people are somehow still stuck in our nostalgia of the 80s and forgot to move on.
Alright, I’ll be honest now. This what I really think is special about Kolkata. Its the symbol of our city and nowhere else will you find a comparable beauty as this.
But what you really Love here then anywhere else :
Sports is a religion here. no matter what is the day, time, weather conditions or any occasion. we celebrate it with full of hearts here. We have been twice champions of IPL and ISL leagues.

Eating options: Kolkata is a place where you can get real cheap food as well as great joints. So whatever your budget, you can easily get food of your choice.

Bandh (Strike) has different meaning here. All shops, public transports including trains are stopped on a strike day so be prepared.

Overall it is a crowded but fun and friendly city. No matter from wherever you belong, you will never feel stranger here. Visit once here and i guarantee you'll take this city with you in your heart.
